Luisa Maggioni releases original single

Sophomore Luisa Maggioni’s first original song, “When You’re Not Around” was released on iTunes and Amazon on November 22. The country and pop combo is her first song to be released for purchase.

“I’ve always been making covers and posting them on YouTube, which I still do, but it was the time to present ‘Luisa’ as the artist she wants to be,” said Maggioni.

Maggioni attempted to model the song after many of her influences, including Carrie Underwood and Lady Antebellum. The lyrics, which were written by Stokes Nielson in Nashville, are catchy and represent Maggioni’s style of music, which is reflective of her everyday life.

Maggioni worked with producer and director Daniel Wills, who originally discovered Maggioni when she was brought to him by her singing teacher.  The two began working together about a year ago. Wills had prepared music and lyrics and needed a vocalist to complete the song.  Maggioni was the perfect fit because she already had an interest in country music.  Wills helped Maggioni continue where she started and help her to expand her demographic.  She is already reaping the benefits of her growing popularity and is amazed by how quickly her following has increased.

“When I first saw my song under the “What’s New” on Verizon’s home page next to one of Drake’s new songs, I can’t even describe what I felt! It felt like an accomplishment.  I’ve been working really hard for this,” said Maggioni.

The next step for Maggioni is to begin touring. Wills plans on putting her name even more into the public eye by opening for artists like Taylor Swift.

“Luisa is definitely one to watch in Miami as a young upcoming artist.  She will be competing with the best country artists,” said Wills.

Wills sees Maggioni as extremely talented and confident for her age.  Her music is something that everyone can enjoy because it is genuine.  Her lyrics represent what is going on at this time in her life, making it relatable to everyone from high school students to adults. Her goal at this point is to create a larger fan base where which she can receive the most attention for her music.

Currently Wills and Maggioni are working on two more singles which will also be released on iTunes and Amazon, which follow the sound of “When You’re Not Around.” A Spanish version of Maggioni’s first single is also being produced.

Maggioni plans on continuing with music after high school and pursuing it as a career. Wills believes that her future in the music business is bright.  From recording her own music to covering songs of some of her favorite artists, Maggioni is prepared to take on the music industry.
